A new boarding school for girls and a teacher enrichment program in Nyamata Rwanda.

The Maranyundo Initiative is dedicated to the continued improvement of the quality of education in Rwanda. With a dual focus of educating the children and teachers of Rwanda, the Maranyundo Initiative plans to implement a system of learning and teaching that embraces innovation, knowledge, critical thinking and leadership skills.

In February 2008 the Maranyundo School opened in Nyamata Rwanda. The Maranyundo School is a lower secondary, English speaking, boarding school for girls. The students receive a rigorous program of study that delivers the Rwandan National curriculum in an innovative and dynamic manner. The Maranyundo School is preparing its students to be the next generation of Women leaders in Rwanda.

As the student population swells in Rwanda, the need for qualified teachers increases. The Maranyundo Initiative offers on-going enrichment and support to teachers at the Maranyundo School and beyond. Working closely with the Rwandan Ministry of Education the Teacher Enrichment program aims to encourage teachers to implement student-centered teaching strategies that deliver critical thinking and leadership skills.
