The Maranyundo Initiative provides access to training, educating and development on both a personal and professional level. In order to provide an environment of academic excellence it is necessary to have a cadre of motivated and inspired teachers.

A strong partnership with leading educators around the world ensures the continual evolution and improvement of the school’s curriculum and teaching methodologies. The teachers are Rwandan who have graduated from one of Rwanda’s teaching universities, or the equivalent, and have relevant teaching experience. Prior to each school year, the teachers participate an intensive enrichment program that helps prepare them for the upcoming school year. The  English teacher acts as a “teacher-coach” working closely with each teacher in his or her daily teaching methods.  The faculty and staff also participate in bi-monthly teaching workshops that follow a methodical structure of implementing student-centered teaching methodologies. Teachers are encouraged to actively engage in educational dialogue aimed at sharing their personal best practices and success stories. It is important for the Maranyundo School staff to work as a team in creating an environment of academic excellence. They routinely visit each other’s classrooms as both a learning and informal evaluation tool.
