Maranyundo Crosses the Finish Line at the 2025 Falmouth Road Race

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Maranyundo Initiative team joined thousands of runners at the Falmouth Road Race in Massachusetts. With a sea of cheering crowds, a sunny Cape Cod shoreline, and the determination of our runners, this year’s race became more than a sporting event, it was a celebration of community, resilience, and the power of education.

Race-Day Highlights

  • Team Maranyundo included board members, their families, and friends running to raise awareness and funds for girls’ education in Rwanda..

  • For some, it was their first-ever Falmouth Road Race, while others returned for the second time, making this an annual tradition.

The Impact of Every Step

Thanks to the dedication of our runners and the generosity of donors, we raised funds that will directly support:

  • Scholarships: More than 66% of Maranyundo Girls School students rely on full or partial scholarships to access top-quality STEM education.

  • Teacher Training: At the Maranyundo Training and Learning Center (MTLC), we are aiming to train hundreds of teachers to impact students by 2030.

  • STEM Access: MakerSpaces, labs, and digital tools that equip girls with the confidence and skills to become Rwanda’s future innovators.

Community Connection

What makes the Falmouth Road Race unique is its ability to connect communities across continents. While the race takes place in Massachusetts, its ripple effects are felt in Rwanda in classrooms, in teacher workshops, and in the dreams of young girls who see new opportunities open before them.

Voices from the Race

“I appreciate every single one of you. The girls appreciate it even more; they will have an opportunity to take on the world, just as we all did.” Owen Boucher, Board Member.

We are deeply grateful to our runners, donors, and cheer teams who made this year’s Falmouth Road Race a success. Together, we are running toward a future where every girl has the chance to learn, lead, and thrive.
