UGHE Visits Maranyundo

In 2023, Maranyundo hosted the admissions team from UGHE (University of Global Health Equity), providing grade 10 and grade 11 students insights into global health education and career opportunities in the health sector.

And in early 2024, 36 students from MGS, comprising 18 seniors and 18 recent graduates, had the opportunity to explore the UGHE campus which provided them with invaluable insights and inspiration for their future endeavors in the healthcare field.

Maranyundo College Counseling Program

At Maranyundo, the College Counseling Program is dedicated to guiding students toward informed decisions about their academic and career paths. We recognize the significance of understanding one's strengths and passions as pivotal to ensuring a meaningful and fulfilling future.

Initial Steps: Fostering Self-Reflection

The program employs a structured approach in five stages for students yet to decide on their post-secondary education. Initially, students are given a set of thought-provoking questions designed for private contemplation, fostering genuine self-reflection. In the second stage, responses are shared and discussed with our college counselors, guiding students toward choices that resonate with their strengths. The third stage involves discussions about chosen fields and proposing colleges aligned with their aspirations. The fourth stage is dedicated to guiding students through the application process, explaining deadlines and requirements. The fifth stage ensures continuous support during the application phase, including verifying written materials and providing personalized recommendations.

Students who have already chosen their paths receive support through discussions to align their choices with their strengths, followed by ongoing follow-ups.

Success Stories from September to December 2023

In the first term of the academic year, guidance was extended to a total of 26 students. Two standout achievements include the acceptance of Umutoniwase Rebecca (6PCM) to the University of Notre Dame and Izere Peace (6MPC) to Smith College. Mutabazi Umuhire Arlette has completed her application to the University of Chicago and is eagerly awaiting a response, while others are diligently working on their applications.

Other Campus Visits and Ongoing Plans

Bocconi University Admissions Representative with MGS students

Additionally, the school had the honor of welcoming an admissions officer from Bocconi University in Italy, enriching students' understanding of international higher education, academic offerings, and unique opportunities at Bocconi University.

The College Counseling Program is steadfast in its commitment to cultivating diverse opportunities. Actively reaching out to a variety of universities, their goal is to facilitate additional campus visits for Maranyundo students. This initiative recognizes that relying solely on online resources may not adequately guide them in uncovering the optimal path for their academic journey.

At Maranyundo, we are committed to nurturing each student's journey toward higher education and career choices, ensuring a path that aligns with their strengths and aspirations. The College Counseling Program continues to be a beacon of guidance and support as our students embark on this transformative phase of their lives.
